Hrmmm, travelling during December-Jan

Quick rundown of our trip

Fly out the 25th, land @ 8am Frankfurt on the 26th.
Train to Munich same day, around 5pm
Leave munich the 30th for Prague
Leave Prague the 1st of Jan for Athens via train
Be in Athens until the 5th, on which we fly out to London
Be in London until the 8th, on which day we leave.

My major questions are, what is the cheapest (plane or train) from Munich to Prague, and from Prague to Athens?

athens we will fly to London, which is about 80 Euro or so, each, one way.

I think its easyjet that is doing that flight, is there anything I should watch out for extra add ons? We only have my backpack + a smallish duffel bag. How is the Athens airport? I have never really ventured down to that part of Europe...

thanks :)

Anthony,
Easyjet is getting real picky about carry on. The last time I brought a school backpack and a 19" duffel, they made me check in the duffel. The plane we took from Luton to CDG wasn't big, and space was a premium, which is why they wanted me to check in a bag. From what I've heard, they also are picky about the weight but if you're carrying a small duffel, I doubt if the weight will be a factor.

Sounds like a great trip.... I am sure others will post their experience and suggestions.

well, checking one bag wont be killer, 9 Euros I have been told? Are there any other inter-europe places I could look at that are not soo picky and add surcharges later?

Hello Anthony. uh, if you want to go to Munich, why will you fly to Frankfurt ? When you go to Athens, fly to Athens. A good way to go there may be to ride in a train from Prague to Vienna. And fly from Vienna to Athens. I was in Greece. I did not know that people travel in trains from Prague to Athens. Greece, and the countries north of it, is not the best part of the world for traveling long distances in trains. The Athens airport is good. It is big and modern. It was designed by a German engineer. The METRO trains to the city Athens connect with the Athens airport. Those METRO trains are the best that I have seen : wide and spacious and clean. Ask Easy Jet to tell you what are all the extra expenses. Ask Easy Jet to tell you the maximum allowable size for a carry - on bag.

well, our original plan was fly into Frankfurt, train to Munich, train to Amsterdam, to London.

but I REALLY wanted to get athes in the itinerary this time, as we have always hit the northern countries.

I will look for flights from Prague to Athens, if at all possible, because that would probably be very quick, compared to train....any cheaper flights going this route?

wow, perfect...its only 75USD one way! That seems cheap enough to me, and these guys dont look like they take on much surcharge--beyond the fare.
