I'm flying from the U.S. into Heathrow and hoping to stay in the Cotswolds that first night. I'm assuming I'll take the train. To what station should I go and I would like to not use a car while there. Suggestions?
Thanks!
Thank you!
The usual station used for the entry to the huge Cotswold Hills area is Moreton-in-Marsh. Rick Steves gives quite a lot of detail in the Guidebook. That train goes from London Paddington. While it is possible to short circuit the trip by taking a bus to Slough and intercepting it there most people will go to Paddington by Heathrow Express or Heathrow Connect and change there. Again, details are in the book. It is not completely easy to get around the huge Cotswolds area without a car. There are ideas how to do it in the book.
It's very easy to hop on a bus to Bath. From there I took a tour to see Stonehenge and the Cotswolds and had a fantastic time.
