How To Stay Connected Overseas

One of the most asked about topics is about staying connected overseas...whether it be via cellphone, email, etc.

Would some people here like to read an excellent article on the subject? (I had to ask a question or someone we all know would complain to the webmaster as he has before when I've tried to post useful information--but not in the form of a question.)

Of course, anytime there is an easy, economic way to do something, someone will come out with a "value-added" (read profit-added) solution, in this case gadgets that cost more for little added advantage.

With my netbook and ubiquitous Wifi, I can use email to stay in contact at little or no cost. I tried to use an international prepaid phonecard, but with an eight hour time difference (MST to CST), there never seemed to be a time when both of us could talk. With email, we both leave and read messages whenever convenient. I like it.

And, of course, by posting to my website, I can keep a lot of people, more than I could ever call, up-to-date with my travels.
