how to get to moracco from portugal/spain and where to spend the nite

From a discount airlines point of view, Portugal does not offer a bonanza of possibilities to Morocco. However, Ryanair does fly Porto-Marrakesh on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Otherwise, you'll have to make your way to Tarifa, in Spain and spend the night there before taking the ferry over to Tangiers. Marrakesh would be a cheaper flight, and a nicer destination.

Depending on where in Portugal you happen to be, Ryan also goes from Seville to Fez a couple of times a week. We'll be in the Algarve for a few weeks in Novemeber and, to break it up, we'll probably duck south for a few days. We just happen to like Fez and it's surroundings a bit better; Marrakech is fine too; skip Tangier, it reeks.
