How to get an 'Easy Pass' multiple entry for Schengen in Germany

If you travel multiple times a year via German airports, arriving and departing in Schengen, you save a chunk of time using the automated gantry rather than waiting in what can be longer Q's for 'other passports. BUT you have to exit security and apply directly at German border police office, so it is valid the NEXT time you come into / out of Germany. (Disclaimer, I posted this awhile back under Germany but there was little interest.)

You need to exit security & find the Bundespolizei (border police) office. Finding the office was the most difficult part of the exercise.

It only took about maybe 5-10 minutes max once I found the correct office. Now I can enter / exit Schengen using the automated gantry in any German airport, which I've now done a few times, first in mid January, 2024. A red light will come on when you use the automated gantry, it's just for immigration to check you've not exceeded 90/180 days and you're on your way, much quicker than the 'other passport' Q.

I had a 3.75 hour layover in FRA to apply for this, as I frequently transit in FRA & MUC. This allows US citizens, and a few other nationalities, to use the EU automated gantry. I downloaded the application, filled it out on line, & printed it out ahead of time. https://www.easypass.de/EasyPass/EN/Service/Downloads/downloads_node.html

This 'Border Police Service Center' is NOT easy to find, even other border police didn't seem to know exactly where it's located. It is in Terminal 2, B on the second floor, not where elsewhere noted on the Forum. (I think this office may have been moved recently). There's a large shopping area on ground level, an escalator with finally the first signage, large open-doored office is up escalator to the right.
If directed to a locked door, you're at the wrong office. A kind border policeman answered one of these doors & he noted that unless I was being arrested, I was in the wrong place. HA. Once I actually found the office, the process took less than 5 minutes, but there was no one else waiting. EasyPass is linked to your passport, so if your passport expires anytime soon, it's probably not worth the bother. No cost.

I've read and re-read this, trying in vain to understand what advantage this business might have for me. OP, you might want to distill your thoughts along those lines.

Easy, if you travel multiple times a year via German airports, arriving and departing in Schengen, you save a chunk of time using the automated gantry rather than waiting in what can be longer Q's for 'other passports'! Have tried to edit for clarity, thanks.

In not too long, we all will be able to use egates (already can in a number of airports) due to EES and EITAS.

Yep, that's true Paul, but at this point it's slated for mid 2025, and it's been delayed so many times I found the time well worth it, given a longer layover! The last time I came through FRA, the Q for Other Passports looked like an hour wait. My wait was one minute. Meanwhile, I will have been through FRA or MUC 9x using Easy Pass before ETIAS is implemented next summer, at the earliest!
