I need to locate a clean, quiet place for two to stay in Berlin. Any leads or past experiences? Thanks.

www.hrs.com... It's a very big and widespread city. Nightlife people prefer to stay in other areas than museum people, shopping people etc. I'd need to know more about you to being able to recommend a certain location...
When I went on the Rick Steves Berlin, Prague and Vienna Tour we stayed here: http://www.hotel-kastanienhof-berlin.de/english/index2.htm It was close to restaurants and pubic transportation. I didn't notice any street noise. It is located in the east, which was fascinating to me as the last time I had been in Berlin we had to stay in the West! Pam
We stayed at Pension Peters, which was both a Rick Steves and a T.A. recommended place. Loved it! The breakfast was good, the employees were incredibly nice and helpful, and the prices were great. It's very close to the Savignyplatz station but also not far from the Zoo station.
Hi Lisa,
I agree with Cate. We stayed 5 nights at Pension Peters last March. The staff was helpful, the room was clean and pleasant, and the location was perfect--near public transportation so it was easy to access all parts of the city. The restaurants in the neighborhood were also good. Enjoy Berlin!
I would also recommend the Hotel Kastanienhof. My room was very nice. I found the old eastern sector of Berlin to be much more interesting than the western sector. There's a great mix of restaurants from inexpensive to nice near the hotel and a great beer hall less than a 10 minute walk away. A tram line passes the hotel, the subway is about a 5 minute walk and the elevated train is about a 10 minute walk.
Thanks so much everyone! I feel like I have something to look into now. I plan on picking up Rick's book too.

The Hotel Opera for sure! I loved it. Great location, and budget price. My room even had a beautiful view.
I wouldn't even think of not staying there whenever I return to Berlin.
Berlin is about the best city to rent an apt. in. There are thousands of them and they are usually cheaper than a hotel, and sometimes cheaper than a hostel. I quite liked having our own little apt. with kitchen and all. At 48 € per night for 2 people, I think that is a pretty good deal. There are a lot of similar websites offering apts. We used this one as it was easy to find availability and neighborhood.
Have never been to Berlin, but am going next month. I booked at the Hotel Arco -- http://www.arco-hotel.de/ -- seemed to have generally good reviews, and I got a price of 77 Euro a night for a double.
If anyone else reading this has stayed there, I would welcome comments.
Depnding on how long you plan to stay, Berlin has excellent hotels in the city centre...easy access to all the main sites. I visit Berlin every year and there is always something new to see. Just a tip..The MuseumInsel which is a fabulous place to visit and is walking distance from the Holocaust Memorial is free entry on Thursday evenings from 6 to 10 pm.
Apologies Lisa...I meant to say hostels and you can access at HIHostels.com
Thanks to those who have replied. We are still trying to locate a quiet place. In speaking with some of these recommended, we've learnt there is considerable noise at night. So, we'll keep searching and following up on the places recommended.

Have you thought about posting over on Trip Advisor? They have a few Destination Experts that live in Berlin and can therefore tell you exactly which neighborhoods are loud or quiet, etc. I think it is a good idea to question people who actually live in a city for the most accurate answers.
