How do I Enroll my Visa Card in "Verified By VISA"?

I will be attempting to purchase a number of tickets on the Renfe website. I understand that my chances of success are better if I (1) use the website in Spanish (OK there). (2) call my bank and advise I will be making a purchase in spain so the charge will go through, and (3) have my card in the "Verified by Visa" security program. So how do I do that one, without getting caught in a phishing scam?? If I Google "Verified by Visa" several websites pop up at the top of the list, one designated as "official", others which look very similar. Only one of them is a secure website with the "https" designation. Maybe the others switch you to the secured area if you proceed, but I didnt' want to even start the process without more information. My concern is avoiding the phony phishing websites. Thanks for your help.

Just call the "customer service" number on the back of your Visa card.

Do you mean I can do it over the phone (after wading through 3 menus and waiting 10 minutes on hold)? I thought it involved setting a password and a sitekey recognition symbol. Don't I need to be on the actual website to do that?

If they can't enroll you over the phone, they can certainly direct you to the proper website.

I seem to remember that when I went to a website which required it just before the confirmation stage I was sent to the Visa site to set it up and when I returned it worked. Can't remember what I was buying, a PC game I think, but it has worked fine since....

Lola, I got the prompt to enroll in verified by visa during the course of purchasing my ticket from Renfe. When I entered my credit card number into the RENFE site, I got redirected to verified by visa. I don't remember the remaining details except that it requires you to select a password to use for online purchases. If you want to set it up in advance, I would suggest you contact your credit card issuer to find out how to do it. Basically, you set up a password to be used with online transactions. When you make a purchase on a site that participates in verified by visa, you will be prompted to enter that password.
