Jim - I can "second" the Londres Eiffel. I stayed there on a RS tour "7 Days in Paris". Loved the location, very close to the Eiffel Tower. Several nice cafes in the area, drug store, bakery, grocery store. I would stay there again. Have a great time in Paris!

I stayed at this one that was definitely a short easy walk to the tower.

I think the website makes it seem like the hotel is a little more 'posh' than it really is - but still, a nice place.

You can get a picnic from Rue Cler that is just around the corner and head straight over the the Eiffel tower for a picnic on the lawn.

Jim,

The Hotel Londres Eiffel is a good choice as it's only a very short walk to the Eiffel Tower (perhaps 5 minutes or so?).

The Hotel Grand Leveque is also a nice Hotel, but as I recall it's at least a 15-20 minute walk to the Tower, so that might be something for you and your Achilles Tendon to consider.

Happy travels!

Hotel de Turenne on the Ave de tourville is an okay 2star, but it's close to both the Eiffel tower & Les Invalides & the metro. Unless you're only visiting the Eiffel tower or plan to taxi, you may want to find out how close your hotel is to a metro station.

We stayed at Hotel Beaugency which is on the street behind Rue Cler and within walking distance of the Eiffel Tower and the River plus you have Rue Cler right there and the metro Ecole Militaire
