Hotels in Venice Italy

Will be travel to Venice in Oct 2016. Try to find a decent, economy hotel in Venice Train Station or Cannaregio area. | spent hours and hours of time to read the reviews posted on trip advisor or other related website but I found it hard to determine which one should I pick. Can anyone have actual experience about which hotels | can pick?

What is your budget in Euros? Last month I stayed in the Ai Mori d'Oriente in Cannaregio which was c 95 euros a night including breakfast and I was given a free upgrade. Very peaceful location and located between the rail station and St Marks.

Venice isn't cheap for anything and isn't easy to do on a budget.

The Hotel Santa Lucia is just next to the train station with lots of great reviews and very economical...what more could you ask for.

Also Hotel Continental is about 100 yards from S.L. station and has a terrace and some rooms on the Grand Canal. Stayed there a couple of times. Decent. Extra fun during Acqua Alta.

I stayed at http://www.anticocapon.com in Campo Santa Margherita. Not in actual hotel but in other building of theirs across the square. I loved it. The square is so lovely and picturesque. Not to be missed is Margaret Duchamp's bar . The spritzs Aperol is out of this world.

We stayed at the Hotel Abbazia, a former monastery and near the train station. Down a quiet street, no need for the 'suitcase taxi guys' to carry your baggage for several Euros.
