Hi,
My friends and I have wanted to plan a grad trip to Europe. Our ages would be 17 and 18. Would hotels/hostels allow us to get a room? If yes, are there any hotel/hostel chains which you know that allows this? Thanks in advance!
Not sure about the 17-year-olds, but I don't see why you should have a problem booking any hostel at 18.
Only one way to find out- find the website or email address of the hostels that interest you and ask the question directly. 18 year olds should be no problem. There's a castle ruin near where I live that contains a youth hostel. The one time I hiked up there, most of the guests looked well younger than 18. But I could not say how typical that is.
Only speaking from personal experience, not from researching any legal stuff. My daughter went with friends to Europe when she was 17 and they were all 18. This was 5 years ago. They stayed in hostels & hotels. The only place she was ever turned away from was a "club" with an 18 & up policy. They went to another club that wasn't as diligent. I don't think you will have any problem - I know that hotels do not ever ask ME how old I am when I make the reservation!
Varies by hostel/hotel. Some hostels will only allow 18 and up in the dorm room. Others require that at least one person in the group be 18 or over. At some of the hostels that only allow 18+ in dorm will have no problem with 3 -17 year-olds and 1-18 year-old in a private 4 person room. So being you will have an 18 year old you won't run into nearly the problems you would have if everyone was 17 or younger. Check each hostel's policy individually, before booking.
