We are a senior couple from Canada who are looking for a reasonably priced room in late May, in a area within walking distance from some sights. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks. Jay
Jay - Do you consider "reasonably priced" to be under 75, 100 or 150 Euro?
Which sites are important for you to be able to walk to? The major sites are quite spread out around Paris, but are easily accessible by the Metro.
Which hotels in Rick's books seem closest to your style?
Jay,
You might have a look at the This Hotel or This Hotel. They are both in the Rue Cler area of Paris, within easy walking distance from the Eiffel Tower and other attractions. There's a Metro stop close and lots of restaurants and other shops in the area.
I'd suggest booking as soon as possible, as I'm sure May and June will be getting booked up by now.
Happy travels!
I am reasonably sure that both the Leveque and the Champ du Mars are filled. The Gourdals are working on the website and it is all screwed up. I would recommend the Muguet or the Relais Bosquet. The are both more money , but the other 2 book up 6-12 months ahead of time.
Thanks to those who posted s reply.
The Hotel Leveque is full on our dates and the Champ du Mars has not replied to our enquiry. A reasonable rate for us would be around 100 euros and we are looking for an interesting and safe area to walk around. And access to a metro station would be good. I know that hotels that Rick recommends fill fast, but perhaps someone knows of one close by, but not in his book. Thanks Jay

I think this fits your criteria.
Claudias suggestion is good .
YOu could also look at Hotel Diana, and Hotel Eugenie. Both are in good areas , central and safe.
In all cases rooms will be small, but clean.
Hotel Royal Phare is around the corner from Rue Cler...literally about 50 steps. There is a Metro (Ecole Militaire) just at the front door (about 15 steps away). There are 2 ATMS right beside the front door (3 steps) and supermarket on the other side of the ATMs.
What more could you ask for? Oh, you wanted a low price and clean rooms and friendly staff...they have all of that, too.
It's a great place, and I highly recommend it.
Take a look at http://en.parisinfo.com as it is run by the Paris tourist information and most hotels in the city are listed on there. Many hotels offer excellent discounts on this site (currently 50% at many places) and you can search by area in the city.
Here's a hotel I can recommend highly. It's very unique and nice but may be a little higher than your budget allows. It's a couple of blocks from Rue Cler at 33 Rue Malar.
mister bed city bagnolet go nto www.booking.com and punch in name for very reasonable rates. 55 euros a nite.
