Hotel Regina Paris

I am taking my 28 year old daughter to Paris for the first time and was looking at the Hotel Regina - I have seen great and horrible reviews. Can anyone add some honest reviews....it is all about he locations for me. Thank you.

Suzanne since you have the budget a better location is actually the Hotel Aubusson, its a lovely boutique hotel in the 6th.. close to many sites and transport and a nicer area for cafes etc.. The 1st ( where the Regina), well I consider it a bit dull, and I am middleaged, so can't imagine a 28 would be overly thrilled..
Anyways look it up.

Suzanne, I totally trust Pat's recommendations. She knows Paris and she knows hotels.

I just looked up Hotel Regina... wow it's expensive. My favorite hotel in Paris is Hotel de Lutece on Ile St. Louis, my favorite neighborhood (little island east of Notre Dame surrounded by the Seine river). It's less expensive and very nice.

Ha ha Susan, I know budget -moderate hotels and I WISH I knew the Aubusson from personal experience, I have walked by( and popped in the lovely lobby) and dreamed of it though, while staying just down the street at a much cheaper place, lol
I have actually heard alot of good things about your recommendation( Hotel Lutece) though and that is a great location pick too!!

So funny Pat... I'd like to know the Hotel de Crillon from personal experience! Even if you haven't actually stayed somewhere, knowing Paris and the neighborhoods and hotels (and how to judge good ones) counts for a lot. Knowing you all these years on the helpline, I always trust your opinion.

Thank you for the suggestions - the hotel looks pretty amazing but is quite a bit higher than the rates for the Regina. Any other suggestions?

Other hotels I like and have stayed at: Hotel St. Jacques on rue des Ecoles (room with a balcony is fun), Hotel du Pantheon, Hotel des Grandes Ecoles. I also like, but haven't stayed at (but a friend did and loved it), Hotel des Deux Iles on Ile St. Louis and Hotel Madison on Blvd St. Germain.

"the hotel looks pretty amazing but is quite a bit higher than the rates for the Regina." Which hotel are you talking about? Regina is way more expensive than Hotel de Lutece, which I mentioned earlier and is my favorite.

I 've stayed at the Hotel des Grand Hommes, that was nice, I didn't get a view room but they do have them facing the Pantheon. The cheaper hotel I stayed at on same street as Aubussson was the Hotel Le Regent, the deluxe rooms were pretty nice, the standard rooms are very , very small though, so spring for the deluxe. Its a wonderful area to stay in, I had brought a friend who had never been to Paris and she was gushing "this is what I imagined Paris would be like" .. the narrow streets lined with cafes and a market right there..
I would look at the Hotel Lutece, its been well reviewed on other forums and Susan right here has stayed at it and recomends it also.

Rather than staying at a hotel, have you looked at staying in an apartment? We stayed in a 2-bedroom apartment this past summer on Rue Montmartre for less than the cost of one hotel room. Plus we had a kitchen and a washer and dryer. It was so convenient for our family of four. There are many apartments like this to be had in Paris. You can find some on vrbo.com or tripadvisor.com or others if you google "apartment Paris". The agency we ended up using was 2beapart, and they were great. No snags or surprises. It's worth looking into at least. Good luck! Have a great time in Paris. It's a beautiful and fun city. Carol

Trivia information about the Hotel Regina. My husband and I were in Paris two years in a row. We took a few Gray Line tours, while we were there. We picked up the tour buses directly across from the Hotel Regina. The hotel was featured in the Matt Damon "Bourne Identity" movie. We have only visited the hotel lobby. It wa featured in the moivie. It is in a great neighborhood. I have read good reviews about it though. We stayed at the Le Littre Hotel, 6 arron. We enjoyed the hotel. We had a room with a balcony. The room has to be booked directly on their website. We could watch the Eiffel Tower and the city lights. We had a beautiful view. As it stays light until 11:00 PM, in May and June, we totally enjoyed our views at night and during the day.
