We are flying in to Paris from Shanghai, arriving at 6:30 PM. We would like to have an inexpensive hotel very near the airport, to rest up before going into the city. Please advise.

ETAP or Formule1, both on the airport, next to each other, and served by the same shuttle bus. ETAP will run seventy-five bucks, F1 about ten dollars less but only has a sink in the room. Both are clean, but spartan. You won't find anything cheaper.

In October of 2009 my husband and I needed a room for one night near the CDG airport. I found a room on Hotwire.com for $99. It turned out to be a 4-star Sheraton in Terminal 2 of the CDG airport. It was beautiful! We walked a short distance into the terminal to a McDonald's for a cheap meal, since the Sheraton restaurant was expensive. There are easy public transportation connections from this hotel into the heart of Paris. You won't know which hotel you are purchasing, but it will tell you how many stars, and you can request a hotel near the airport.
