I am leaving for Europe in a week. I am staying in London and Paris. I e-mailed both hotels to confirm that my reservation was still on file this past Sunday morning. The hotel in London responded in about 30 minutes but I have not heard back from the hotel in Paris. I am concerned because I just read a review on Trip Advisor that the hotel recently lost someone's reservation and they had to find a new hotel. I will be staying at the Hotel du Champs de Mars. Should this be a cause for concern that I have not heard from the hotel? If so, any advice on how to move forward? Thanks!
Pick up the phone and make a call during their normal business hours if you are really concerned about the reservation. It's not entirely unusual for a smaller hotel in France to not respond immediately. Sometimes there are only 1 or 2 on staff who check the email because they may be the ones who read & write English better than the rest of the staff (assuming you are not fluent in French).
Take a copy of your e-mail from them confirming your reservation. That way they will either have to give you a room or find you a substitute.
If you are using a Yahoo email account, it may very well have gone into their spam box. Try writing them with a google or hotmail account instead.
We had the same experience last year and I just called them to make sure they still had our reservation. There was no problem and we had a very nice stay. We are staying there again this fall and I will call them to confirm. Be sure to take any email confirmations from them that you already have. Have fun.
Thanks for the replies! I will have to give them a call.
It's wise to check your reservations. I always have better luck phoning.
