I’d take this information with a grain of salt. I took a quick look at a three hotels in Germany, France and Spain and each report came from a review posted on TripAdvisor. One review was from 2014 one from 2015, and the German one must have been older since it wasn’t even on TA any longer. Essentially, the information may not come from verified sources and is definitely not recent in all cases.

Agree with Jaimee: some of the reports are so old that they're not even relevant anymore. As well, people who said that their bites were "confirmed" to be from bedbugs don't explain how they got that confirmation.

Heck, I got so chewed one night in Florence that I could have blamed it on bedbugs, except that my OT didn't get a single nibble. Turned out to be mosquitoes, which I'm extremely sensitive to at home, and even more so when they're foreign critters!

well if you get arrested you might get bedbugs but it won't be in an app.

Yes, but fortunately not everyone’s body reacts to the bite of a bedbug.

Here's some advice for you fine folks that may be arrested. Don't take the blanket they offer and avoid lying down on the mattress.

I was arrested and jailed for a few hours when I was 19 for altering a temporary tag on my scooter. I changed the 3 to an 8 because I didn't have the money to get a permanent license plate. It was a memorable experience.
