Hotel Advise

I am finishing up on our itinerary and would like some thoughts from any of you that have stayed at any of the following hotels. I have the following hotels booked for our trip in September/October. Prague - Hotel Hastal, Vienna - Hotel Corvinus, Budapest - K&K Hotel next to the opera house, Lubjlana - Hotel Cubo, Venice - Hotel Pensione Guerrato, Florence - Residenza dei Pucci, Rome - Hotel Aberdeen. This will be our first trip to Europe and any advise/thoughts on any of these hotels would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I am a regular visitor to Prague and though i have not stayed in the Hotel Hastel I do know the area quite well. reckon it being in a good location for a first time visitor,In the Josef area so all the Jewish sites on your doorstep and you have a short walk to the Old town for all the sites there.Loads of cafes , restaurants and bars in the area and a short walk to transport options.

I was really happy with hotel Aberdeen in Rome. It was a quick walk from the train station, walkable to most historic sites, close to public transportation for farther away sites, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. My room was comfortable and I loved the breakfast. Enjoy!

In addition to feedback you get here, browse the reviews for any and all on booking.com and even Trip Advisor. Booking.com is a good source as only travelers who book though the site and completed their stay are able to post a review so the feedback is legitimate. Even Trip Advisor is legitimate as long as you know how to discard the fakes; they're not difficult to identify. Also discard review rants from the ridiculously picky or feedback too general to be useful, such as, "We enjoyed our stay".

Keep in mind that some of the posters on RS also post to other travel sites. :O)

Just as a starter, here's booking.com's reviews for Hotel Hastal, Prague. You can locate reviews for a hotel of interest by clicking "Guest Reviews" in the upper right of the menu bar.

Thanks to everyone who has replied. I must have done something right, as half the hotels I booked are already sold out.

I love the location of the Hotel Hastal. Pensione Guerrato is very affordable but do be aware that you'll have to climb lots of steps when you enter/exit. You'll also have to haul your luggage up/down those steps.

In Budapest, I highly recommend Kapital Inn which is a few blocks from the Opera and right on the metro line. The owner, Albert, grew up in Hungary but spent a few years in Boston so he speaks perfect English. Over the course of a week, we spent many hours in his kitchen over breakfast and afternoon snacks learning about Hungary, getting recommendations on things to do, places to eat, talking to other guests.

I'd also recommend doing a Taste Hungary Culinary Walk food tour - one of the best food tours we've been on.
