Hot, hot, hot !!!

Temps above 30c expected in a lot of European capitals today (Sep 13), with some September records expected to be broken. For those planning a trip and debating the perfect time to travel, look no further.

Started out in Paris on Aug 20 to record breaking heat, hit Trier for the GAS tour with 95 degrees and now in London with highs expected today of 88. My plan is to get out early and be ready to be in the shade of a tree in a park by mid-afternoon!

I did misjudge packing this time...needed one more pr crop pants. I have found that mine will dry overnight so that is good.

pretty warm here in Edinburgh about 22c at the moment which is pretty high for any time of year.last night travelling home it was 21c at 9.00pm which is bloody warm for Scotland in September. Thunderstorms expected here later today.

In Paris, yesterday was 30C and very muggy. This morning it was 28C at 6 AM - predictions are for around 33C today but with a few storms predicted.

Tomorrow, temps will descend to a more bearable 27C and hopefully will keep going in that same direction.

We usually take the ac out of our window by the end of August here in Nova Scotia. The darn thing is still in the window and ran half the day on Sunday. The humidity was horrid. But think it's finally cooling down. Def a hot summer!

Well, it's not hot everywhere, as we had hail over the weekend that remained for over a day. Our dog loved it. Normally, from post Labor Day to late October is the best weather of the year in my opinion. Experiencing cold temperatures this early has me eyeing our snowblower and thinking I need to confirm it will be ready and much sooner than normal, whatever that is these days.

I live in Atlanta and we had 90 yesterday with high humidity, the weather people say our summer has been one of the hottest. Plus, they predict the hot temps to continue well into the fall. Atlanta as well as Georgia is in a serious drought.

I was hoping to escape the heat on my trip. I have been checking the temps in Europe to help me in packing for my trip to Italy in 3 weeks. Milan was in the 84 range yesterday! Rome, not surprisingly, was 88 or higher.

I will be on the RS 17 Days in Italy tour, flying into Milan and spending two nights before the tour begins.

Advice on packing? Is the heat expected to moderate?

Thanks,
Judy B

I prefer to travel in cooler months, hope next June isn't like this. As far as weather for a trip, maybe be prepared to adjust short notice to what hour packing and check the weather closer to the actual departure date.

It's been in the low 30's all week in Frankfurt. When it is 32 every day, it is miserable here. Just hanging out in front of my fan every afternoon after work.
Why I always recommend finding a hotel with AC.

Temps should drop a bit on Fri. (hopefully)

32°...oh, that's C not F. Had me wondering for a moment despite caffeine ingested.

Hah. Our average daily maximum is 29+c from November through April, and with humidity in high summer. Even in midwinter the average maximum is 23c, so no need for snowblowers.

Snowblowers...a requirement here for winter which should be revealed December 21, not in September.

32 degrees (not Fahrenheit but Celsius) in Brno, C.R. Time to go to their lake for swim.

That's right with the current hot weather . I've been told that is the case in France west of Lyon ,ie, low 30s Celsius in the shade, just as I've experienced in Vienna in mid-June. I would be thrilled to be back over there now, Brno, Paris, Vienna, etc .

Gorgeous in NYC this week. Temps in the 70's, low humidity. After a ridiculously hot summer, it's been incredible to sleep without air conditioning for the last few nights.

I'm just hanging on until tomorrow, when, as Chexbres said, the temperature here in Paris is expected to drop dramatically.

I've had enough!!

I did see headlines about the possibility of places in the UK reaching the highest temperatures since 1973. I guess that was yesterday, will have to see if you all made it or not!

Emma, I sympathize -- nothing worse than public transport with the #)(#&)&( heat on when it is hot!!!

No storms arrived, but this morning at 6 AM, it was 16C. Proof that God exists!

Still, I'd postpone packing until the very last minute, because the meteorologists have no control over the weather systems that can rush through France without a moment's notice. There's still time for "Yo-Yo" weather, and hopefully some rain.

After I posted yesterday that it was 28 I found that it had actually been 30 here.

Same again today, slightly less hot tomorrow and - maybe - 18 on Friday and wet. Or maybe not wet. Or they don't know. Or they're not sure and will tell us tomorrow.

One does need a good reason to dawdle now and again . . .

I just discovered this past weekend that I'm not the only one here in northern CA who adds world cities to the weather app on my phone just so I can look at what's going on out there and laugh and laugh. A small bit of schadenfreude before returning to our ridiculously high cost of living....

I like London starting in May It is similar to the weather in SF. Like in Vienna in May but could be chancy, but by mid June it could reach 30C, same as Berlin and Paris. Bottom line: you're there in mid-June , July, and August, basic expectation is: expect to sweat everyday in Central Europe.

I also like London in May. This past May when I was in London, it felt like 95 degrees Fahrenheit. I wore a sleeveless blouse, and capri pants at The Tower of London that hot day. Got sunburned on my face and shoulders! I didn't expect May to be that warm! I had brought a fleece jacket and long sleeve sweater, which I never needed the whole trip.

I had no idea London had been on the receiving end of that deluge! We too finally got some rain, and the temperature has dropped significantly. Sheer bliss.

Mrs. EB, I'm with you!! Love the lower temps and LOVE fall travel.

Oof, I got back from Europe (Oslo, Berlin, London) a week ago, followed by the past week spent in Boston/Cape Cod, and I cannot emphasize enough how much I missed Seattle weather. A week of 80-90 degree temperatures in Berlin, followed by three days of what I was told was some freak heatwave in London and the heat/humidity of Boston. Very ready for autumn now!

If you want it cool you could return to London. We didn't get out of the single figures C last night.

Nigel, I would gladly come back! And I'll take cold and rainy over hot and humid any day - perhaps the only good thing about being Russian and living in the Pacific Northwest. Hoping to make it out to the UK again next year!
