I was wondering if anyone can recommend a good, clean, respectable hostel in Central London? If so, what was it like? My husband and I are trying to find inexpensive but clean hostel for a trip to London next fall. Is there a place to keep your belongings locked up? I've checked Rick Steve's book out but just wondering what your thoughts are. My husband and I are in our mid 30s - would we feel out of place by staying at a hostel? Your thoughts?
People of all ages, including seniors, stay at hostels. You might feel out of place at a hostel that has a reputation as a "party spot for the young," but age itself isn't an issue. I thing that any of the YHA hostels in London would be good choices for you. See www.yha.org.uk/find-accommodation/london/index.aspx. A good site for hostel reviews is www.hostelz.com.
Here's another idea. Take a look at the Arran House Hotel, a B&B in Bloombury that, in addition to its regular rooms, has dorm-type rooms at hostel-like prices. Everyone gets the full English breakfast. See www.arranhotel-london.com.
