Honeymoon to Greece or Adratic Sea?

Hello! We're thinking about going on our honeymoon to either Greece or the Adriatic Sea. Has anyone gone on their honeymoon to Greece or the Adriatic with Rick Steves? Do you recommend one or both?
We're also not sure if it would be better to go with a Rick Steves tour group so everything is planned out or maybe plan a trip of our own with a Rick Steves guide book so we can have more freedom on our honeymoon. We are looking for a balance between adventure and relaxation on our honeymoon. Any advice would be appreciated!

We didn't go on our honeymoon in either, but we have been to both, more than once.

The Greek islands are hard to beat. A cruise is great for the Greek islands and a good mix of adventure and relaxation.

That's exactly why we were leaning towards a trip to Greece. I've heard good things about RS tours. Did you actually go with the tour group to greece and the adriatic? How was your experience? We're just wondering if we would be able to relax much on the trip if you're going with a tour group.

I was on a RS Greece tour and while it was enjoyable. I wouldn t think of it for a Honeymoon. Perhaps aGreek island cruise would be more in line with honeymooning. This would give u more options for day tours and luxury options on ship. Athens to start of course then ck out Crystal cruises.
Hopefully u are looking at shoulder season as summer is packed and so very hot.
Re Adriatic i have not been on a cruise there but did a terrific land tour. With extraordinary Dubrovnik being a highlight.

Hello NJ. For a honeymoon trip, I recommend : travel to the Greek island Naxos (at the Agean Sea) as quickly as is possible. Fly from airport of Athens to the island Naxos. Be at Naxos five nights, minimum. If you will have more days at Greece, ride in a Ferry boat from the island Naxos to an other island of Greece. And return to Athens by the quickest route (Ferry boat, or fast boat, or airline flight). On the west side of the island Naxos (south of Naxos town) are the best beaches in Greece. Rudy Maxa said those beaches are the best places in Greece for experiencing peace. Naxos has busses, and rental cars. If you want to know my suggestion of a good hotel at Naxos town, send a Private Message to me. Naxos is a big island, with variety : olive tree groves, fruit tree groves, mountains, trails for hiking, quaint old villages, and a magnificent Sea coast at the north side (mountains roll in to the Mediterranean Sea). Good eateries at Naxos town. Naxos town has the best looking marina that I have seen, with a road for pedestrians. Naxos town is located two and one half miles (via Taxi car) from the airport. I do not recommend any group tour at Greece, for you. I do not recommend being on a cruise ship on the Aegean Sea. Typically, passengers on a cruise ship can be on an island for a maximum of four hours. That is not enough time on an island of Greece. Read the travel guide book on Greece, or the Greek Islands, published by Lonely Planet. If you want to read more knowledge about Greece (descriptions of the land, history, ..., search for the travel guide book on Greece from Cadogan's guides. It could be an old book. That book is the best. The Rough Guide book on Greece is similar to the Cadogan's guide book. And the small book from Thomas Cook on Greek island hopping can be helpful for you to decide which island of Greece to go to. It could be an old book. That book is in many public Libraries in the United States of America. A more recent title is Thomas Cook Traveler's guide to the GREEK ISLANDS. When I was at Naxos (a long time ago) the "High Season" (high prices for hotels) was three months. In other months, being at a hotel on Naxos cost much less money.

I could think of nothing less romantic than to take a tour (even a Rick Steves one) on one's honeymoon! If you are just using the tour as a way to relax and just let someone else handle all the logistics and details instead of doing the planning on your own, then just pay the fee and work with a travel consultant to just plot everything out for you based on what you are really wanting to do on your honeymoon.

Having lived and worked in Italy along the Adriatic, you can't go wrong with picking something on the Adriatic or opting to go to Greece - but I'd really opt for not doing your honeymoon trip as part of a tour group.
