Honeymoon location(s) in July?

Hello,

We are planning our honeymoon in Europe in early to mid-July (July 4-18). We're planning to spend the last several days in Paris (likely arrive on July 13). Where should we go for the first part? Looking at other parts of France, Spain, Italy mainly for ease of getting back to Paris. It will be my fiance's first trip anywhere in Europe. I've been there several times and lived in Rome for a few months. We would like to reduce the amount of travel between places ideally and actually relax (some beach time would be great, but we also want to see some sites/experience the culture). Suggestions for about 8 full days - especially during the rather busy/hot time of year in some of those places?

Thanks!

Spain and Italy will be too hot and very busy. Relax after your big day with a week on Ile de Rey, where you can immerse yourselves in the laid back French way of life and rent cycles to get around the island. Very romantic and ideal for a honeymoon. Stop in one of the wine regions en route to Paris, such as the Loire , then get your culture in Paris.

Many European schools will be on their summer holidays by then, so don't delay in getting accommodation booked, as the best choices will already have gone. Accommodation is limited on the Ile de Rey, which means it never gets too busy, but likewise, it is relatively expensive.

For mainland France, Nice is worth considering. It will be warm, but not as hot as other places further inland in southern France, and Nice has the ocean and pebbly beaches. We had an apartment for a week last July, with air-conditioning (check Homeaway.com, VRBO.com, or Gites de France).

I like Nice as a base, you can easily and cheaply daytrip to so many beautiful coastal towns, and visit Monaco.
We stayed there in mid july , and while it was hot, it was good because of ocean air kept it from being suffocating.
Do make sipure hotel in Paris has ac, hot in Paris can be suffocating.

I would take a train to Avignon, rent a car and spend time traveling around Provence. You can stay in one base town (St. Remy) and see lots of towns and village and visit the coast, or you could split it up between two locations. There are an endless number of beautiful places to hang out, and you can easily drive off to a remote area for a wonderful picnic, or drive to the Carmague....
I have found Nice to be over crowded and hot in the summer, but I prefer the countryside and less crowded locations. Lots of great markets in Provence, and I think lavender should be in bloom?
