Honeymoon and Overlapping Itineraries (Prague>Germany>Austria>Italy)
Visual Itinerary: https://imgur.com/a/Ys65KuW
I will be getting married next month in March before heading over to Europe. My parents will meet us halfway through the trip. The overlapping itineraries makes the planning a little more difficult.. Any critique or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. The current plan will divide the trip into two phases:
The Honeymoon: Me and my wife-to-be will spend 5 nights in Prague. I want this portion to be relaxing, not hopping around too much. Would like us to really decompress and have plenty of time to take in the city at our own leisure. This is our second Europe trip together (had an amazing trip to Finland and the Baltics in December 2023) and we plan on taking many more.
After we newlyweds have our time together in Prague, we will rendezvous with my parents in Munich on their very first trip to Europe. I've been trying to get them to go for a long time and this may very well end up being their only Europe trip (unless they profoundly fall in love with it). Because of this, this portion of the trip will try to find a balance between getting them a more busy/comprehensive experience and not totally burning them out (they are in their 60's).
I originally planned to go straight to Innsbruck on my parents arrival, but decided it would good to let them settle in and get adjusted for a couple of days in Munich.
I've read on this forum that Innsbruck is a great launch point to places nearby for day trips, so we will spend 2 days there, but perhaps it would be a good idea to spend 3, taking one day away from Venice? Or is the original plan to go straight there from Munich a good idea?
Does Ortesei deserve a nights stay or would a stop through on our way to Venice suffice? I've heard great things but don't want to spread ourselves too thin.
Finally, I am aware the Italian trek may not be necessary and I had originally planned this exclusively as an Alp trip with it ending in Switzerland after Innsbruck, but my Father has always dreamed about seeing the wonders of Rome, especially the coliseum. After considering this may be my Dad's only trip to Europe, I decided it would be a real shame if he didn't get to see the place he's always talked about. I now have it planned for my parents to spend their final leg solo in Rome after we depart. I've been to Rome on a previous trip, It's amazing don't get me wrong, but I don't feel the need to see it again quite yet.
See the attached visual itinerary at the top. Let me know what you consider good or bad ideas. Nothing is set in stone yet.
Any input that would be much appreciated!
