Home Swaps

Does anyone have experience with swapping ones home for a place in Europe? My interest would be securing a place for a month or two in Paris. This isn’t a topic I’ve seen come up on the forum. Appreciate your tips, positive or negative cautions.

There has been a couple minor discussions on this site but nothing significant. But there are several web sites devoted to this issue. Just goggle "Home Swap." The big issue I see - not meant to be an insult - is your home in an attractive location for a swap? I think a couple of weeks might be doable but a month or two??

We are members of homeexchange.com and have received a number of requests to swap for a home in Paris for a week or two, always in summer. We did not accept those but have swapped for an apartment in Vienna for a week, and a condo on the Costa Brava.

If your home is in a good location, I am quite sure you would be able to find some Parisians who would love to visit Canada.

A nice thing about Home Exchange.com is that you can browse the listings before you join to see what is available. We then decided to join and it was very easy to create the listing, post photos, etc.

Good point that others may not want to be here for a month or two. I’m in the heart of the Okanagan Valley in BC which is a major tourism draw for wine lovers, skiers and golfers but can appreciate many might only want to visit for a couple of weeks which would be more of an inconvenience than a help. Appreciate this forum to garner such helpful tips and knowledge!

I'm guessing that homeowners in Paris are in high demand for swaps and can choose where they want to go. However, the very first Paris property I clicked on has a swap available for the coming months July and August, during their childrens' school holidays.
