I am interested in spending Christmas/Easter in Europe. Anyone have a favorite special place to spend Christmas/Epiphany? And, can anyone compare spending Easter in Italy vs Greece?

I can't really compare the two, but I know that Easter in Greece is not the same week as in Italy, so you could theoretically do both.

My impression is that over Christmas, everything (shops, restaurants, tourist sights) pretty much closes up quite early on the 24th and stays closed through the 26th. Not sure what you'd do then. New Year's is more of a public celebration. . .
