According to Bradt Guide Northern Belgium Brussels Airlines instituted a "Hi Belgium pass" in 2017, which lets the holder get a very good package deal on plane travel, domestic train travel and attractions in two optional Belgian cities, departing from any one of 50 designated European cities. Did anybody try it or hear about it? Do other countries boost their tourism in this way, and is it worthwhile buying such passes when possible?
That was discontinued last month.
I haven't been able to find a current webpage describing that offer. Are you sure it is still available? It has/had an interesting combination of features; its value to the traveler would probably depend on which sights are included and the age of the traveler. Belgian rail fares for seniors are very low.
I've found and taken advantage of some very good national- and regional-level sightseeing offers when I was spending long enough in an area to do in-depth sightseeing. The areas covered include:
- Finland
- Estonia
- Lombardy, Piemonte and Campania regions in Italy (separate deals). The Campania ArteCard has at least one option that includes local trains.
