Helsinki Hotel Review- Scandic Grand Central

Unfortunately, there is no hotel reviews category for the Baltics……

I am just finishing a 3 night stay at the Scandic Grand Central Hotel and have been extremely pleased with room quality, hotel breakfast and central location.

The hotel is in a renovated historic building attached to the Central Railway Station in Helsinki. Historic touches have been retained while rooms are modern and spacious. Mine even had its own sitting area with sofa and table.

The location is wonderful. The trains, city buses, metro and trams are all located at the train station. The intercity bus terminal is a 7 minute walk away. You can literally get anywhere from here on public transport.

I arrived at Helsinki Airport and took the train (€4.80) into the city. Then it was exit the train station, turn left, and there was the hotel. So convenient and so welcoming after my transatlantic flight.

If you arrive by ferry from Tallin, The tram outside the terminal will take you to Central Station and this hotel,

Nearby are many restaurants, 2 shopping centers, 2 grocery stores the National Theater and an art museum.

The hotel breakfast is a little pricey at €19 but extremely well done with a wide variety of Finnish and International options daily. I felt I had good value.

Prices change weekend vs weekday, but I averaged $168 a night over the 3 nights.

I would definitely return here in future trips.

Carol, thanks for taking the time to post your review! (Sigh, I have several hotels I've loved and not reviewed.) BTW, Finland is a country covered if you scroll down under countries. Curious where you're heading next!
