Helpful Hint

Having just returned from Germany and France, I hit on an idea before I left to help taxi drivers and ourselves, get us to our accommodation from train stations etc. Because I have no level of expertise in the German language and a high school level of French, I typed up on large slips of paper in 16 font size print, the names and addresses of our accommodation. The taxi drivers were happy and we were on our way without any hassles. Try getting your jaw around some of those German street and suburb names!!!

We also do the same thing AND will have a map in my hand with the location marked. I hope (?) that indicates to the driver that I have some idea of where we are going so that we do not get the sightseeing tour.

Funny you should mention the 'sight seeing trip. Even with what I thought was a fool proof idea, we got just that in Berlin. Apparently there were two streets with the same name. The taxi pulled up outside a photo copying shop and said this is no.8. I replied that's nice, but we are right for photocopying. A hotel would be better. Our street, of course was on the other side of town. We should have been more assertive regarding his charge, but after a long train ride we were 'off our game' a bit.
