Help with some travel-related school projects

Hi, everyone. :) I'm currently a student at WSU (through their online campus) and I am currently working on a couple of travel-related projects. In short, there still seems to be this belief among Americans that everyone in the world hates us, and that we're pretty much guaranteed to have problems simply because of our nationality. My own experiences and those of my better-traveled friends have told a different story, though. We've had nothing but good experiences interacting with locals! So, I decided to research this issue for a couple of my classes. In order to get some opinions and experiences, I've created a couple of short surveys. One is for AMERICAN TRAVELERS (http://www.zoomerang.com/Survey/WEB22CMLH73JTQ) and one is for CITIZENS OF OTHER COUNTRIES (http://www.zoomerang.com/Survey/WEB22CMLLC3LRD). Both surveys are anonymous, so please be as honest as you can! Also, feel free to pass these links along to anyone you know who might be able to take a few minutes to fill them out (both are VERY short). Also, feel free to ask any further questions about the surveys or my projects that you may have. Thanks in advance to everyone who helps me with this!

I took the US version .... just five easy questions. It only takes a few minutes. Emily, I hope you will publish the results when the project is complete!

Hi, everyone! Thanks to those of you who took one of my surveys; they're not closed, and I'm winding down my summer classes. :) I had some requests to come back and post my results, so I thought I'd do that. Here's some facts that were gathered from the surveys: 79% of Americans who responded believe that citizens of other countries would rate Americans at 3 or above, on a scale of 0 to 5. 90% of Americans who responded would rate the way they've been treated by locals on their travels a 4 or 5, on a scale of 0 to 5. 91% of non-Americans who responded rate their experiences in dealing with Americans in their home countries a 4 or 5, on a scale of 0 to 5. 81% of American respondents and 91% of non-American respondents believe that Americans should feel free to travel, without worrying about facing hostility due to their nationality. The main complaints that non-Americans had about us in the open-ended response section of their survey was about our government, or about bad experiences they'd had with individual Americans who were rude. Basically...anyone who's polite and behaves themselves will be welcomed. :D

Thanks for posting results, Emily. It's nice to see that non-Americans are actually pretty positive about us!
