Help ....which tour is best? Scandinavia or Germany/Austria/Czech

I would like to ask the travelers which countries you enjoyed visiting the best. Criteria: Best scenery, people, food, and significant sights.

Thank you for your help

Best is always a relative term, What is best for one is not best for another. Scandinavia is not a country but a big area and there are major differences within Germany,Austria, Czech. Scandinavia is high on our list for return so I would probably pick Scandinavia but would just as happy with central Europe.

I have not been to Czech... Also, this is a little tough since both areas cover a lot of ground, and I have not covered them completely, but I will try to answer your questions.

Scenery -- Stockholm is an extremely beautiful city, set on 11 islands, or maybe 14. The fjords of Norway are just gorgeous. The Alps of Germany and Austria are incomparable -- really really beautiful. It's probably a draw.

People -- The people I've met in both countries were very nice. All seemed to be pretty reserved, but polite and helpful. Some of the Germans I met did have a tendency to scold if you did something they didn't like. But if wasn't offensive. I don't think I can answer this since I met such a small % of the people in both areas. I would say it's a draw.

Food -- I had great salmon in Scandinavia and Denmark has pastries to die for. Otherwise, I didn't find the food to be anything to write home about. I found the food in Germany to be a little on the heavy side, though I enjoyed the salads. I would say most people would prefer German food.

Significant sights -- I think Germany and Austria win out here pretty handily, although it's a matter of what kind of sights you enjoy.

I vote for Austria to incl a bit of Bavaria also. I have not however been to Czech. I do not incl food as it can be so variable and personal. But I have not been disappointed with our meals in Bavaria or Austria. Not gourmet but tasty, filling and prepared nicely.

Part of the answer will require knowing a) what time of year you are going and b) budget constraints. Scandinavia in July is terrific, not so much in February. Norway in particular is mind bogglingly expensive and yet it was so lovely we're going back. Germany/Austria etc. best in late Spring or early Fall. Can be done well on a modest budget. I enjoy all of these places equally but for different reasons. For scenery I'm divided between Norway and Austria. As for food, well I'm a second generation Swede and we eat well, not Scandinavian food (LOL).
