HELP!!!! January 20, we are going to Barcelona from Paris. We took the Eurostar to Paris from London.) Never been to Barcelona before. My husband had this crazy idea that he would like to know Barcelona. Over my head with researching flights and hotels, etc. Am confused from which airport to depart, and how to get to the airport from the Center of Paris. Do you have any suggestions 1) from which Airport in Paris would we depart, 2) suggestions about good and reasonably-priced hotel or B&B's; 3) arranging tours. Hope to spend 3 days in Barcelona and then fly to London Heathrow and return to the USA 1/29/11. We are active seniors with a sense of adventure.
We depart for London, Jan. 8,2012 ANY HELP YOU CAN GIVE WILL BE APPRECIATED.....
You can fly on EasyJet from Charles de Gaulle (CDG) to Barcelona (BCN) for $37 to $44. Or you can fly on Vueling from Orly to BCN for $51. I believe CDG is easier to get to, but maybe others know better. Whatever you do, make sure you are flying into BCN (El Prat) airport, not the so-called Barcelona airport which is an hour away at Girona. For places to stay, look for something close to Placa Catalunya or up Passeig de Gracia or Rambla Catalunya from there. We spent 3 nights last April at Hotel Jazz, a couple of blocks away, and loved it. Or look at H10 Placa Catalunya, which is right on the square. Or Hotel Sixty-Two, which is offering nice Executive rooms for 115 euros in mid-January. If you want something under 100 euros, try Barcelona B&B, which is well-regarded on Tripsdvisor, a small place with only 4 rooms, and a few blocks further away. After you have your flight and hotel come back and ask about tours. Barcelona is lovely.
Paris to CDG: Take the metro to the closest station that also is served by the RER B. Take the RER B to the CDG 2 TGV station. Be aware that the RER B line divides northeast of Paris so be sure to get on a train that is going to CDG. EasyJet operates out of Terminal 2B. Paris to Orly: Take the metro to the closest station that also is served by the RER B. Take the RER B to the Antony station and the Orlyval driverless shuttle train from there to the Ouest Terminal. Vueling operates out of Orly Ouest. A cheaper but slower route to Orly would be to take the metro to the closest station that also is served by the RER C. Take the RER C from there to the Pont de Rungis station and the airport shuttle bus from there to the Ouest Terminal.
