Help on a cheaper decision.

Unless i have poor airline searching skills...is it cheaper to just get a roundtrip in and out of london or to fly into london and then travel to one other country...possibly germany or amsterdam and fly out from there, because im finding flights into london for over $1200 and finding round trips cheaper than that. Also I am not talking about transportation to the other countries.....strictly airfare. If so what are some recommended websites.I know ryanair is a good one once your in the country but what about TO london from Florida.

It depends on where you are going and when. I don't think roundtrips are cheaper as a rule, it just depends on the legs of the trip. As an example, it's usually cheaper to fly round trip to Frankfurt than Rome. An open-jaw plan to fly into Frankfurt and out of Rome would be cheaper than a roundtrip to Rome and more expensive than a roundtrip to Frankfurt.

I haven't seen any real good deals into London lately either. I'll probably fly directly into another airport for my upcoming Northern Europe trip. I keep checking all the options though because it could change any time.

Unless I am reading this incorrectly, it sounds like you are pricing round trip vs. two one way tickets. The way to do it is to search for a multi-city flight. That will take you into one airport and home from another on the same ticket. I usually check on kayak to see where the best deals are, then I check on the airlines websites. I have always saved money booking on the airline site.

I have saved hundreds of dollars using Orbitz to book my flights.

"Check "multi-city" using a site like dohop.com and momondo.com, and have them send you alerts when fares change."

Steve, I was playing around on dohop.com and momondo.com the other day, but didn't see a multi-city option. Do they have one?

Don't know when you're going but there are flights from Orlando to Dublin for about $580 incl. all taxes and fees on several May travel dates with Delta and USAir. On Ryanair, it's easier to fly out of DUB to most continental destinations because of the lengthy and expensive connection between London and Stansted airport.

Ya those websites are turning out to be pretty helpful....and that Ireland deal doesnt sound that bad but the only bad thing is that im about 3 hours away from there...if it comes down to it...the drive will probably be worth it

Even the Airline web sites offer the Multi-City option, and you should definately check into that option when making multi-city or multi-country trips as it can be cheaper and give you more time for your vacation. You generally don't want to look into one-way flights from US to Europe, though it could be possible to find some deals that way. Best is to evaluate all the options available. One-way tickets, round-trip tickets, round-trip with stop over, and multi-city.
