Help! How should I divide my days in these cities?

Hello,

As part of my upcoming trip, I was planning to visit Bergen and Helsinki&Tallinn.
I’ve always wanted to visit Bergen and Helsinki&Tallinn, and I’ve been to Stockholm & Copenhagen before.
I have 9nights, allowing 8 full days, day 1&day10 would probably have minimal time for sightseeing.

Things I want to do in each city include:
Bergen
- city sights
- the hike from Mt Ulriken to Mt Floyen
- following NiN for one day
Helsinki:
- day trip to tallinn
- Suomenlinna
- city sights, maybe a sauna as well

I’ve thought of a few options, but can’t come up with a satisfactory conclusion..
Any opinion on what might work better would really he appreciated :)

Option 1:
Arrive in Bergen on day 1, late evening.
Day 2,3,4,5 in Bergen, including one day for NiN route from Bergen-Bergen.
Direct flight from Bergen to Helsinki on day 6 (this flight is currently 160 euros for day6 date!!)
Spend Half of day6 after arrival and day 7,8,9 in Helsinki, including a day trip to Tallinn.
Leave Helsinki on Day 10.
Adv: Only 1 accommodation change, don’t have to carry luggage on the NiN route.
Disadv: Bergen-Helsinki flight way too expensive on day 6

Option 2:
Arrive in Bergen on day 1, late evening.
Day 2,3,4 in Bergen.
Day 5 - NiN route Bergen-Oslo, one night in Oslo.
Day 6 - spend the day in Oslo, fly to Helsinki on a late evening flight
Day 7,8,9 in Helsinki
Day 10 leave Helsinki
Adv: Oslo-Helsinki flight is only ~60euros, also get to see Oslo for a day (or, is this even worth it?)
Disadv: Have to carry luggage on NiN route, changing accommodation twice

Other options:
- Doing option 1, but spending 3days in Bergen (one day for NiN route Bergen-Bergen), then 4days in Helsinki (direct flight from Bergen to Helsinki on Day5 seems to be a bit cheaper than on day 6, around 110euros)
- Doing option 2, but spending only 2 full days in Bergen, giving 2days in Oslo, then 3days in Helsinki
- Doing option 2, but spending 2days in Bergen, 1day in Oslo, then 4days in Helsinki

Or would you have any other better suggestions ?

Also a general question, is it better to stay in Tallinn and do a day trip to Helsinki, or stay in Helsinki and do a day trip to Tallinn?

I hope this all makes sense!
Thank you so much in advance!

Why not save Helsinki and Tallinn for another trip. Stay in Norway and see places like Geiranger, Alesund and Flam.

I carried my luggage on the NiN route, and that was when I had a 24 inch bag and a carry-on bag (I now travel with smaller bags). It was not a problem. The trains had sufficient storage space above the seat, the boat had an area where we all left our luggage, and luggage went under the bus. The only potential issue is the Flamsbanna; that train had small luggage racks overhead, and I believe I had to hold my carry-on in my lap.

So, if going via Oslo is otherwise the best way for you, don't fear taking your luggage on the Nin from Bergen to Oslo.

I actually liked Oslo better than Helsinki, and there are certainly enough sights to keep you busy for a day.

I like option two. Although Oslo is not my favorite city, it is worth seeing. I just loved Bergen, but you don’t need four days there.

I also had no problems with taking luggage on the N in a N trip.
