Heathrow to Eurorail Station to Paris

Hi! We will be arriving in Heathrow around 2pm this coming April 7th and I would like to ask if we can still make it to a train to Paris without having to rush through everything? Or would you suggest that we go the a hotel near the station, check in and sleep & leave early the next day? We plan to be in Paris for 3 days, then to return to London by the 11th April to sight see for 2 days in the city center, go to Liverpool overnight, then Wales overnight again before heading home.....Is that schedule too hectic?

It's quite possible to get from Heathrow to Paris if you land at that time, as the Eurostar takes around 2 and a half hours. But your main risk as I see it is if your flight is delayed, as tickets on Eurostar are often for specific trains and you may have to get a new ticket if your flight is delayed. Purely on those grounds, it would be worth staying somewhere near St Pancras and leaving in the morning.

Liverpool is worth visiting, but I think the travel time from London to Liverpool and from Liverpool to "Wales" (where in Wales?) makes staying for one night only in each place a bit pointless.

Liverpool is a city and Wales is a country. Without knowing what you want from a scant few hours in Liverpool I could not comment and you cannot possibly see Wales in what appears to be less than 24 hours.

Yes it would seem to be a little too hectic for the short amount of time you have indicated. We need more details to better understand your situation and to give you our suggestions.
Like...where are you coming from, the reason you are not flying into Paris, have you traveled in Europe before, why these wide spread destinations????? More details will help us help you.

Unfortunately you seem to have already booked a simple round trip ticket to Heathrow. It might have made more travel time sense to fly into Paris and out of Manchester given your itinerary (presuming you mean somewhere in North Wales).

I agree with Keith. Since you'll already be at Heathrow, fly to Paris. On 7 April for £49 you can fly AirFrance to CDG, departing at 16:00 and arriving at 18:15. For £55 you can fly British Airways to Orly, departing at 16:40 and arriving at 18:55.

If you take the Eurostar, you will need to allow up to one hour to clear immigration/passport control and another hour to take the Tube (Piccadilly Line) from LHR to Kings Cross/St Pancras. There is a mandatory 30-minute check-in deadline for the Eurostar. To be safe, you should allow at least 4 hours between your scheduled arrival at LHR and your departure from St Pancras International. This means that the earliest Eurostar train you could safely hope to catch is the one that departs at 18:01 and arrives at 21:28.

I agree with Keith and Tim - be efficient with your limited time and just fly from Heathrow into Paris. It'll almost for sure be cheaper to fly too.

Not sure what your plan is for Wales in one day? London in two days is bare bones. An extra day would be well worth it.

If you are a Beatles fan (your reason for Liverpool?), then you can see the major sights there in about a day with an overnight. But don't forget to factor in travel times to and from London.

Backtracking is expensive and inefficient. And when you're taking a short trip, it gets into your time for tourist activities.

If you've already purchased your flight, I would suggest spending the day in London and take the Eurostar the next a.m. to Paris. Spend the balance of your time in the London area, and save Liverpool and Wales for another trip.

If your flights are not set in stone, fly into London, do your tourist thing, and then take the Eurostar to Paris. Fly home from Paris.

For the time allotted, you just have time for these two great cities.

Yes, too hectic. Why don't you leave Paris for another time. Paris and London each deserve a week.

Welcome Grace,

If this is your first trip and you havent done some planning, i would do so. As mentioned backtracking isnt good for the pocketbook. Look at your PATH.

just a comment. If you spend your time in the UK first and then go to Paris. Then if you have to go back to the UK to fly out, transportation shoudlnt be an issue since youve "been there done that". but i would try to fly out of paris if its the above plan.

If youve booked your flights already, it could be too late, but check for what fees/charges for changing if any.

also, as mentioned the pro/cons of buying a train ticket in advance. Weight the +/-. are you willing to buy another tickets(s).

On one of my trips my flight to Europe was delayed ~ 2 hours and the connecting was delayed another hour. my previous trip, no hitches on ANY of my flights. My trip last year was hitch free. on my last trip, i booked rooms in AMS (my hub) just in case of a delayted flight. That delayed fight i mentioned cost me 450 USD. I can stay in AMS overnight in a really really nice hotel for 450. So i decided to stay overnight both in/out of AMS. This year, im going to chance it since my connecting flight is 5 hours after im suppose to land. Again, it all depends on how you want to do it and how comfortable you feel about the connections.

happy trails.

Hello graceavanzado. I agree with all that David at Florence said.
