I've read the security info on Heathrow's website several times, and I'm sure I've got this right ... but you know how you start to over-analyze things? Anyway, after my flight from Seattle lands at H-row, and I go through the Flight Connections security and into Terminal 5, I've got a four-hour layover before my flight to Schiphol. I thought I'd kill some time by buying most of my toiletries at Boots. The way I understand it, I could theoretically buy a really big bottle of shampoo, put it in my carry-on, and that's perfectly okay to do. Right?
Yep
You can buy single malt Scotch at the World of Whiskies and take it with you!
Thanks, all! I was over-thinking and starting to panic. It's what I do best.
Also? I think I like Doug's suggestion! ;-)
One warning...
If you have a connection in the US the liquid rules "re-apply" So if your flight is non stop LHR to SEA then you are good. If your flight goes to Chicago, Atlanta, JFK etc.. you will clear customs and immigration there. That means you will go through baggage claim REAGARDLESS of if you checked or not. So you get to go back through security screening. Your liquids over 3 oz either go in the checked bags or the TSA gets them.
(For that reason I often check on the way home)
Tami is right! Those darn US connections always get me, so now I don't buy anything that would mess me up. Such a shame.
Definately only do it if you have no US connection. I always stock up at Boots on my way home from London (Love the Boots brand coconut toiletries!) but I think if you have a connection, youll have to put it in checked luggage and get charged for that.
