Headline from Today’s Wall Street Journal (yes, this is travel related)

“Stir-Crazy Travelers Are Ordering Airline Food to Relive the Flying Experience
Chicken or Fish? Surplus snacks and microwavable meals can be purchased online for those who want to recreate the taste of a trip that might have been”

I don’t even know what to say...

There is a company in Dallas that got stranded with tons and tons of nuts when the airlines essentially shut down, then I guess canceled passing out nuts. They are selling them online now, trying to get rid of them.

That Dallas company is the supplier to American Airlines. You can purchase 1st class snack nut mixes by the pound. I thought the prices were bit high when I looked.

The tropical blend nuts with pineapple and an overly sweet mai tai from a cheep store bought mix and you can lean back in your recliner and get just as good of service as you would on any AA flight to Hawaii. :-/

I wish I could order off the Turkish Airlines menu (yum!). Better than the salad bar (closed for the foreseeable future) at Whole Foods.

EDIT: Never mind, I just read that COVID has killed off the great food and onboard Chef. Oh well, it was great while it lasted! Fresh squeezed lemonade, hot towel and all. Instead, cold boxed lunches are coming to a flight near you...

Chicken or pasta with any occasional curry dish thrown in the mix. Don’t miss the airline meals at all. They’ve gotten so bad, we pass on them on many flights and would rather go hungry.

I guess it depends on the airline. We flew Qantas to Australia last year, and it had the worst food of any airline I’ve ever been on. And that’s saying something.

To truly recreate a forgone trip, that food will need to be on a small flip-down panel. Is anyone selling seats with fold-down trays, to complete the experience?

Plastic cutlery, too. Mmmmmmm.

I, like Jaimealsabio, make it a point to avoid airline food. I am cheap in general , but will pay for a meal to carry myself (or bring something from home) to avoid having to eat that crap.

The Hawaiian Airlines morning flight to Hawaii serves a meal that may be dangerous to ones health. I will always bring my own food to that flight.

Two local grocery stores here have been selling bins of the tiny airline liquor bottles, $1 each, to further enhance the experience.

But is there salt and pepper in little packets?
