Hawaii

I'm getting the feeling this is a no-no, but people hav been kind enough to answer, so...My husband and I would love to take a whale watching catamaran cruise, try a Dolphin Quest dolphin encounter, snorkel off the island of Molokini, visit Pearl Harbor, see a volcano, and swim on a beautiful beach. Any suggestions how to do all this? Many thanks for your help!

You may get more help if you take your question to Frommers, where there is a Hawaii board.

Nancy - The destination experts for Hawaii on Trip Advisor give great advice. Try one of the Hawaii forums there.

Hi, neighbor! Someone else posted a question about Hawaii not long ago, and a number of people were in the spirit to answer. You can surely find the thread by searching these boards for "Hawaii." A quick answer is that all those things can be done by organized tours either beforehand or right on the beach. There is no limit to the number of happy tour-sellers at the hotels seeking to separate you from your money. Remember whales are only seen at certain times of the year, so you have to go in season. The whale watching boats tend to be heartier vessels than catamarans, so save the catamaran for the snorkling trip. Pearl Harbor you can do on your own, and there are various volcanoes to see by land or by air, depending on which islands you're on. Here's a freebie you didn't ask for: the cheesier and less authentic the luau, the better the show. OK gotta get back to answering questions about Europe! Cheers,
Matt "DC" (but actually Arlington)

|Nancy I have no problem with anyone asking a question about a destination other then Europe on this board, but I strongly advise you to go to the tripadvisor.com hawaii forums, its a great forum,, really , try it. Many us here on this forum have been to Hawaii , but on the tripadvisor.com forums you will find people that go there ALOT and have a ton of experience. We do have on this forum a poster who lives in Hawaii half time and he is very helpful, so hopefully he sees this post and volunteers to help you , I don't feel its my place to volunteer him! lol To do all those things you wish, I hope you are not going to say "we are on a budget" since some things, like the Dolphin encounter can be very pricey.
Also sounds like you need to do at least a 2 island holiday. How long is your visit going to be?

I don't have specific advice but you may want to do some more research on the "swim with dolphins" programs, they are very controversial and there is much evidence that the conditions in those programs are very stressful and harmful for the dolphins, and there's also a safety issue, humans have been severely injured by said stressed out dolphins. Just something to keep in mind.
