what concessions/plans did your tour guide make for that major holiday (assuming sites were closed, specifically thinking about Christmas and New Years). I'm considering signing up for the Best of Rome tour that begins 12/27 and ends 1/2. I'm curious what options your guide(s) came up with, if he/she had to alter the itinerary. Also, if you went over New Years, did your group celebrate NYE together? I think it would be fun to be in a major European city for NYE, but I don't want to miss out on anything, either. Thanks!
Kim...after you stop looking at the snow outside your window....why not either call or email the RS office and ask them. They can definitely give you the definitive answer.

If you look at the tour member feedback for the dates of the trip last year, people address how the holidays were handled.
I did my first ever RS tour, the 7 Day Best of Florence Tour this past December.
It started on Christmas Day and other than a few lights, some Santas and a lovely Christmas morning Mass that I attended on my own...the tour didn't really begin until 3pm....you would not have known it was Christmas. We had a wonderful dinner together that night and because of the holidays we did change a few things but we knew that going in that the itinerary would be flexible. Tour ended on New Year's Eve day so we did not celebrate together although some tour folks did meet up for a celebratory dinner. I loved taking the trip during Christmas.
Frank: I've been working from home/doing personal research while staring out the window at the snow. How did you know? I realize I could call the office but I wanted to hear from folks who experienced the trip the way I would (as a group member).
Leslie: I looked at the feedback for 2008 and 2007 and couldn't find any applicable feedback (specifically looking at Rome and Florence). If you found something that I may have overlooked, will you please let me know?
Claudia: You must have had Donato as your guide. I finished the VFR tour on 12/24 and know he left for Florence that morning. He helped a few of the couples who were staying in Rome through Christmas Day by offering suggestions on places to eat.
Thanks for the replies!
