After the recent discussions here about layering and how some folks don't want to bring winter clothes, if you're coming to Europe now you really should consider some additional winter precautions. Woke up this morning to minus 9.7 degrees celcius which is 14.54 of your American F degrees. It is expected to get worse with Siberian wind arriving tomorrow. 16 inches of snow in northeast England, lots coming for all the country. Europe is mighty cold too. This is very early, the worst since 1993 and it is due to be a hard winter. Keep coming though....
Only a dusting of snow in this area of Germany so far, although it looks like the nearby Odenwald mountains got hit a little stronger. For my evening walk with the dog last night, I had to pull out the winter coat and knit cap for the first time. Can't wait to hit the slopes!
Saw some pictures of York with all the snow....it looked beautiful.
I've been checking out webcams on various points on my upcoming trip in 2 weeks...looks cold everywhere of course, some snow near Munich on down to Neuschwanstein.
10 to 20 centimeters of snow expected tonight (4 to 8 inches). Thats on top of the inch or 2 we got Friday night. Temps to dip to minus 2 celsius tonight. Personally, I love it.
I got pictures of the sheep in the snow from my friend Carol on the Black Isle this morning. It looks like Edinburgh and the central belt of Scotland got quite a bit as well! Wasn't there a discussion earlier this near about not needing boots in Scotland in December....Hmmm, I hope that the poster is checking out the weather. You'd be mighty unhappy without boots in Edinburgh this weekend. Check out the view from the web cam at Stirling University. http://www.psychology.stir.ac.uk/staff/phancock/campusviews.php There are more webcams at this link. http://www.rampantscotland.com/features/webcams.htm No snow yet here in southern Wisconsin. Pam
I want to see photos of Tom's dog in its winter coat and knit hat
It's one of the most extreme La Nina years on record, so unusually cold weather is on tap for the Pacific Northwest and Western Europe as well. We've already had our first snowstorm and Arctic freeze of the year here in Seattle, beating out Europe by a week or so. I think long johns are going to get a workout this winter, at home and abroad...
