I'm due to fly home to SFO from Heathrow on 4/29. To make sure I have finances in case I have to stay over, I have added some credit card accounts to my PAYPAL account. This is logical on some level, but don't know if it would help if VISA cuts me off. If you have experience using Paypal to pay a hotel bill upon leaving the hotel please tell me how it was done. I have used Paypal only once or twice before trips.

If you have the debit/credit card from Paypal, it works just like a regular debit/credit card. I use mine as a back up in Europe all the time. Their fees aren't bad, and never had a problem. Did you get the cards to take with you before you left? If so, should be no problem. Cheers.

I don't have a card. My account is just online. Next time I will have their card. Who knew it might be necessary? I think the best thing probably will be to call VISA and my bank and ask them to extend my dates in Europe.

Thanks for the tips on Paypal. I was thinking creatively that I could pay a current bill by paying thru the hotel's website. If it comes to that, I will call my bank and Visa to let them know I'm staying over the dates I gave them. If it looks like a problem, I'll talk it over with hotel management. I think these extraordinary times may require special solutions. I'm not broke, just want to be sure I have access to my funds.
United has confirmed my flight for next week, so it looks good for now. My LHR-SFO flight pattern is mighty close to that ash.
