I'm planning to go in January but I'm not sure the best tour to go on. Not a trip I'd tackle on my own. Does anyone have advice or good tours they can recommend?

Uniworld is an outstanding tour company that offers tours in Egypt. I traveled with them in China and would not hesitate to recommend them.

I did a 2 week Egypt tour with Adventures Abroad in 2005 and really liked it. They're based in Vancouver and have a similar small, easy going group philosophy as Rick's tours. The biggest difference was that you must tip your lead guide. You can check out their Egypt itineraries at www.adventuresabroad.travel.

We have travelled much of the world both with tours and independently over the years but our best trip by far was the 18 day Egypt/Jordan adventure with Gap Adventures. We saw more than we could ever have achieved alone and everything from accommodations to transport etc was fabulous.....
