Happy New Years!!!!

Wishing you all a very happy 2009. Hope everyone has a wonderful year, full of exciting adventures, lots of fun, and of course the most important - some peace on this earth.

The fireworks are going on and on and on and it is quite pretty, though a bit smoky outside. Watched "Dinner for One", made rib-eye steaks for me an my husband and watched a whole back season of 30 Rock. That's excitement for ya!

Happy New Year to you Jo. We watched New Years celebrations on TV this morning from Australia and Hong Kong (?) this morning. We still have 8.5 hrs to go and we'll probably make an early night of it. My daughter LOVES 30 Rock!!

Jo,

Thanks for the kind wishes, and I'd also like to wish you and everyone on the HelpLine a Happy New Year and many travel adventures in 2009!

I'm afraid my new year celebrations won't be very exciting this year. I watched Rick's "Making of the travel show" episode on KCTS at 19:00 (which included scenes of Lago di Como, certainly one of my favourite places).

When the "magic hour" approaches, I'll probably flip back and forth between the New York, Seattle and Niagara Falls celebrations, and toast the new year with a generous glass (or two) of Limoncello (not Champagne I know, but it will remind me of Italy!).

It looks like 2009 will be the year I retire, and I'm not quite sure what to think about that?

Cheers!

Happy New Years to all, from me as well!
I just returned from 3 days in Vienna, where I celebrated with abandon.
We dined at my favorite restaurant, the Yak&Yeti (Nepalese), which belongs to friends of friends of mine. We ate, laughed, talked and danced all night, and after midight, joined the First Night celebrations in the streets.
Vienna was one of the first cities to implement these festivities, which have since spread all over the world. And parties with style! The public transportation system ran all night: we got home at about 4 am. I haven't had so much fun in a loooooooong time :-)))

What y'all said :), and a special "Servus"! to my new friend Jo, whom I had the pleasure of meeting on my recent journey home!

I'm doing okay with the Alzheimer's - at least not getting any worse - but had a bit of a problem over the holidays almost getting arrested through no fault of my own.

Been spending a lot of time on my blog, and researching the research going on to cure AD, and so haven't had much time to be here, but now that the holidays are over and since I am heading to Bonn in early April, I will resume my membership here on a more active basis.

I do wish everyone a safe and happy 2009!

Did anyone catch the New Year's Day celebration from the Musik Verein in Vienna, this time?

I DVR'd it and haven't had a chance to watch, but I think I'm gonna miss ol' Walter. It just won't be the same without that mellifluous voice.

My AD blog, if you decide to visit is at http://wheretobud.blogspot.com. I hope you find it useful, entertaining and will let me know if I need to change anything.

Schoene Gruesse!
