Hairspray?

I can't find small containers of hairspray and can't remember now if that is considered a dangerous item or not. Can you take a normal container along? Ideas? Thank you

Target has a couple of different brands in pump spray in their travel/sample size area. So does Walmart. If you have to have the aerosol kind you might look there, but I don't recall seeing it. I took my pump spray travel size bottle with no problem.

Melanie - I found travel size hairspray at Trade Secret at the mall - it's expensive (1.5 ounces for $5.95) but just the right size. Do you have these stores in Canada? A friend of mine recently had a regular size can confiscated at the Las Vegas airport. Good luck!

Some of the airlines have the amounts of personal items you can check (whether aerosol or flamable) posted on their websites in the Restricted Items section. When I head on a long trip I sometimes take a regular sized bottle of mousse and hairspray in my checked bag. Recently, the beauty supply store has been carrying travel sizes in my favorite items. They do cost twice as much but taking two tiny bottles of each saves so much space...

Hey I'm leaving next week and found a good travel size can of hairspray at Revolutions Hair Salon at Metrotown. I think most hair salons will have them, check Willowbrook, the bottles ranged from 3.95 - 5.95, but I think the salon brands are better, not as sticky (brand I bought was scrupples). I don't think you can carry on an aerosol can, so its going in my checked bag.

I use Sebastian brand, and it is available in 3 oz cans. I usually take a can for each week, and then just toss them en route as they are empty. In the US this brand is available at beauty salons and some drugstores.

I couldn't find hairspray that small either and had come to the conclusion that I would need more than a 3 oz bottle anyway. So I am going to just buy it when I get there...

Buy a travel size bottle once and refill it from a larger non-arosol bottle at home. It costs much less per oz. That way you can use a salon quality brand and not be stuck with drugstore brands if you don't normally use those...

You can even buy empty travel size spray bottles at Dollar stores. Look for good quality, though. Always keep the protective cap on and secure in a zip lock bag. Remember to fill only 3/4 full to allow for expansion and contraction during flight. Some people go as far as to duct tape the lid on.

I go to the Beauty Supply store and get mine. Redken sells a travel size 09 one and also a travel size GUTS volume foam. I never travel without it!

Thanks everyone. Sounds like the easiest solution is to just buy a bottle there. I'll try your other suggestions though.
