Hair Help

Coming from a very day place in the US, I am having a lot of hair trouble in the European humidity. Does anyone have any suggestion on products that help tame hair? Even if I pull it back into a ponytail, I end up with frizzy curls sticking out the top of my head.

Gosh, I feel your pain. now I live in nice dry LA - of course, I still get the frizzy curls and unless I straighten it with a flatiron not much helps. My best advice would be try an anti-frizz serum... there are a bazillion kinds in the drug store ranging from just a few dollars to the very expensive if you go to a beauty supply store - I've tried them all and never found much difference between the cheap and expensive, but clearly i have problem hair LOL. Put that in your hair when your hair is still damp and make sure you work it out to the ends. But that stuff has never helped me! Perhaps the "safest" method would just be hairspray or gel, after you pull your hair back, just spray a bit of spray or rub a bit of gel (not too much) and that should keep the frizzies down for the day.
I'm afraid to say that my own experience with curly frizzy hair has shown me that there's no one right answer. But good luck!

Hi Fellow Frizzies!

I use Tigi Bed Head Control Freak. It helps. I let my hair air dry. I put about a dime size bit in my hands, rub them together and smooth over the top layer of hair root to end. And let that air dry. As long as the hair stays dry = it sort of works. My hair is half way down my back - and I am 51 so it is getting a lot dryer and more brittle.

Control Freak is found only in salon supply and looks pricey but isn't when you consider how long the bottle lasts.

Good luck!

Whatever you bring -- be sure to put it in a 3 oz container, or else you will be leaving it at the checkpoint!

I have naturally curly hair and had great success last week in Europe with a product from Garnier-Fructis called Curl & Shine, leave in conditioning cream.

I have frizzy curly hair and I live in an area that can be humid here is what I do. This recomendation came from hair stylist. Unless your hair is very dirty or very oily dont wash it everyday with shampoo. Instead wash with shampoo then condition it every 2 or three days. On the days when you are not using shampoo, wet your hair, use a conditioner for frizzy or curly hair, then add a dime size amount of a frizz serum. I personally like frizz eaze. comb it through then let your hair air dry, if you want to put it in a ponytail pull it back when it is damp. Put a drop of serum in your palms and then smooth it over the hair that is pulled back. this is what works for me

I, too, have been blessed (& cursed) with naturally curly hair. Just before my last trip, I discovered Sunsilk's Anti-poof 24/7 creme. It's the 1st product I've found that actually helps with the poof & the frizz. Sunsilk also offers a 24/7 creme (as well as shampoo & conditioner) for anti-frizz. I haven't tried it only because the anti-poof helps fight the frizz, but I imagine it works just as well.

Chrissy,
How about clip on hairpiece? I have unruly hair too and I plan on taking a clip on hairpiece. I put my hair into a pony and then clip this fake hair piece on and it looks great! You can also buy fancy hair bobs to make it dressy for the evening.

i wore my clip on hair during my entire vacation, mainly because my husband is not good at waiting for me to "do" my hair. just be sure to get one with a plastic claw clip, or you will set off the metal detector every time!

I, too have frizzy hair but combined with very fine, brittle hair. I found that "Frizz Ease" products by John Frieda are the gentlest and work the best. Right now I am using "Curl Around" conditioner to get the permed look without the frizz. Found everywhere and not real expensive.

Marifae,

How do you form the curls? I just got some of Joh Friedas' Secret Weapon. It is great - until my hair gets a little wet (like the rain storm the other night). Then it is goooo.

Sally,
The conditioner I use is a rinse out not leave in. I run the brush thru it in the shower and rinse. Comb out and style as usual and it curls itself in ringlets where frizz would normally be. Leave-in and after shower products, like you said get gross in the rain. Rain has no affect on this but to curl more with very little, if any, frizz. Hope this helps.
