We will be in the UK, Belgium, Netherlands, Italy, late September-early November. Does anyone know if we will be able to get the immunization while we are there?
Probably not. At least in the UK. You would need to find a private Dr. ( not on the National Health Service) who has access to extra doses. It is unclear if there will be suffcient doses for the high priority groups, much less for everyone. If you are at risk- pre-exhisitng conditions such as asthma, heart/lung problems, diabeties, etc. you should talk to your physician.
Maybe, but I wouldn't count on it. The EU has recently published their H1N1 immunization policy and, like in the US, it's going to prioritize certain groups. Basically, if you are in "normal" health and not at-risk for any number of reasons, you're in the last group eligible. This makes sense, since most people who will get this virus will only experience mild symptoms which will pass like any other flu virus.
