Grounded Adaptor Plug Universal to Cont. Europe

I have 2 non-grounded plugs ie: sony camcorder and sony digital camera, will this adaptor with a ground connection slot work in France?

I'm not sure what you mean by "this adaptor with a ground connection slot".

The standard Europlug adapter, oblong, with two 4.0mm (5/32") diam. pins should be narrow enough to clear the protruding grounding pin in a French receptacle. It is limited by EU codes to 2½ amps (almost 600W), plenty for your cameras.

I have seen (have two) plug adapters with the two pins on a solid, 1¼" diam. boss. The boss has a "slot" to clear the protruding grounding pin. This should also work.

However, if your Sony appliances have polarized plugs (one blade wider than the other), the wide blade might not fit into the adapter, but you can check that. One the other hand, if they are double insulated and have both blades the same width, you should be fine.

Anne,

The two-pin (non grounded) Plugs of your Sony appliances will work with a three-pin grounded Plug Adaptor, but of course the ground connection won't be used. You might want to buy one or two of the non grounded Euro Plug Adaptors as well, as the grounded model may not fit into some power points in France.

You didn't specify, but I'm assuming you've verified that the Chargers for both your Camcorder and Digital Camera are designed for "world operation" from 100-240 VAC?

Happy travels!
