Great resource for European city architecture photos

For those who are looking for photos of different European regions, cities, or countries to get an idea if its the kind of place they'd like to visit, I think Skyscraper city is an incredible treasure trove on the internet for European enthusiasts. I spend a lot of time on the General photography section as well as the European classical architecture sub forums. The European classical architecture section has an amazing thread of photos of pre WW2 German cities. There's also great photos of reconstruction/renovations of historic buildings. A travel inspiring website to be sure, but be warned you can spend a lot of time there.

Hi,

In regards to using the computer to see the architecture of German or former German towns/cities, you can also access those places in the former "Prussian East" prior to the horrors and destruction of war, ie, prior 1914 or WW2 (depending on the photo or that shown on a postcard) say, of a train station, the city hall, a church, a bridge, the town square, the main street, or other buildings in towns like Marienburg (Malbork today), Danzig (Gdansk), Memel, Kolberg, Dirschau, Marienwerder, Schwetz, Stettin, Preußish-Eylau, Mewe, Königsberg, Gumbinnen, Allenstein, Thorn, Kulm, Graudenz, Neidenburg, Soldau, Elbing, etc.

https://www.skyscrapercity.com/forumdisplay.php?f=192 This link is to the sub forum of skyscraper city, of European classical architecture, and the "Germany at the end of the 19th century" thread is the absolute treasure trove of photos, its the third or fourth discussion thread. Plenty of non-Germany photos as well in other threads.

Jo, there is also a nice discussion thread about Frankfurt Altstadt reconstruction as well.
