Great Performances on PBS

For those who love classical music and travel, PBS Great Performances has a very entertaining new series called Now Hear This. In the first episode, violinist Scott Yoo crosses Northern Italy chasing the story of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons. He visits Venice, Siena, Turin, Cremona and Milan; plays a $15 million Stradivarius; visits violin makers in Cremona; and tours the library where 92% of Vivaldi’s original works are housed. The first episode aired on Sept. 20 but it will probably rebroadcast later this week and you can dvr it. Check your local listings. The next episode takes you to Germany and will profile Bach.

Oooh this sounds wonderful. Thanks for the tip, Mary, I will tell my folks to watch out for it! And maybe we can watch some together when I am home at a Thanksgiving.

Mary, thank you for sharing this program information. I had received an email from my local PBS station and had intended to watch the first episode. Due to jet lag last week, I was too tired to stay up. Hope to see the rebroadcast. This will be a great follow up to the great performances we saw on our recent journey to Central Europe!

Yes. The PBS Passport is wonderful. We can stream at a later date most of the PBS programs that we have missed.

Thanks all for the programming reminder. I was able to stream the program this am. I learned so much about my beloved Vivaldi. An incredible show.

Thanks for the tip Steven — my parents are definitely members, will have to figure out about this Passport when I am visiting them as I am sure they are not taking advantage of it!
