Granada's Realejo district?

Hi all,

Can anyone provide a brief description of the Realejo district of Granada?

I'm thinking of booking a room at the Room Mate Shalma for a couple of nights in mid-October and want to make sure it's in a good, vibrant, lively, interesting, safe, central location. But I'm having a bit of trouble finding info about the Realejo.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you very much!

El Realejo is the old Jewish quarter of Granada, located just south of the Alhambra and centered on the Campo del Principe. It has a lot of nice narrow scenic streets, but it's not "old-old," since the area was razed after the Reconquest in 1492. The area around the Campo has lots of restaurants and bars....quite the spot for nightlife...mostly locals. I've not stayed in that section overnight, but it seemed safe enough to me. You're right around the corner from Plaza Nueva and the Albaycin....a 10 minute walk.
