GPS devices

I bought the GPS maps for UK and Ireland, and plan on taking my Garmin GPS with me. It plugs into the cigarette lighter outlet - which got me to wondering, are all cars (here and abroad) equipped with the same style or type of cigarette lighter? The type my GPS plugs into is the round style found in most/all U.S. autos. thanks Bob
