Google Street View

OK, so this isn't strictly Europe, but we've talked on this site before about how handy the street view on Google maps is. This website has interesting single shots of things found on Google. Accidents, guns, birds, prostitutes, little kids. It's fascinating. http://9-eyes.com/

My nephew is in a Google Street View shot in Chicago. He was walking down the sidewalk near his dorm.

Leave it to you, Karen! Excellent, as always! Very sad, LOL funny - nature, man, art - it's all here. Those were some great murals...and Jon Rafman has a fascination with Segways... Things I've learned: don't ride motorcycles, don't drive through Russia with a Google camera, and ditto for Britain unless you like one-fingered salutes and bums - 'cause THEY don't like Street View. I can't pick a favorite, but I particularly like the roadsters with their gloves and goggles (giggle)! Also, the white sheets blowing in the breeze (ahhhhh...)... Is that a 'cop' in a 'kilt'? My fave, though, if I have to pick...SCHWING! It's Wayne and Garth - Excellent! "Party on, Wayne, party on, Garth" LOL!

I think I am going to have to pass on trying to blend by dressing like the locals. (if you know which ones I mean) Thanks Karen, there were some wonderfully amusing photos as well as some works of art. Love the rainbow.

I love the complete randomness of it all. You can't make this stuff up. Why is a superhero sleeping on a bench? And who knew that's where the Rod Stewart Fan Club met? I think you could do a whole creative writing class just on these photos. Eileen- I also, like totally, noticed Wayne & Garth!

The one that puzzles me is the women in the burqas and their eyes are blurred out - isn't this, like, OVER KILL??

Steve, I had to go back through the photos...yep, they're REALLY blurred out...(shaking head) Apparently I've come across someone who spends more time on Street View than I do LOL! I need to spend more time outside of Paris, Munich, etc. and head out into the more, ahem, 'colorful' parts of the planet. That's where the real livin' is. Party on, Rod Stewart Fan Club. Schwing.

It seemed like the random prostitute shots outnumbered the random bird-caught-in-flight shots 10 to 1 but who's counting...

Mona, you're a bad girl!!! AND you left out the various and sundry pat-downs... Karen, I'm guessing the prostitutes' Segways are parked behind the Rod Stewart Clubhouse, I mean Fan Club. Ohhh-I bet it's a front...!

No one has mentioned the Moose cavorting in the road! One of my favorites.

Aaaah, cavorting moose. We were lucky enough to see 14 of the buggers (some cavorting, some being more coy) when we were in Maine this past October. They are pretty spectacular, and Maine is well worth a visit to see in person (moose, sweeping vistas, no billboards, moose, friendly people, great food, moose...). And, uh, Michael - TMI! :)

This is an unbelievable site!! Oh my gosh, is that the Rod Stewart Fan Club? (53 East Claremont in Edinburgh, Scotland.) I was born in the Granton area of Edinburgh and moved to San Francisco in 1962. I can't believe I missed out on joining such an exclusive club. And the town of San Pedro de Marcoris in the Dominican Republic has really gone downhill. (Yellow volkswagen) And in that one bus stop photo, if you look carefully, a man has a gun against another man's chest. Everyone has their heads turned facing that way. Wow!! So Cool.... Good job Karen.

Ouch, my community (Avalon Park) was actually featured in the nine eye essay.
