Google Pay and ATM. Maybe not.

I have used my Foogke Pay once about a year ago at an ATM. No issue.

So, my bank sent my new ATM to my US address where a friend opened it, scanned it and emailed it to me. I activated it online and put it in my Google pay which ended up requiring a phone call on my US phone. All fine.

I bought lunch with it that day my. All fine. I went to the bank ATM today for a little tip cash. REJECTED. Tried another bank REJECTED. Third bank REJECTED.

Now I sit in a Scotch bar in Budapest, drinking Tenents Beer bought with the same card. The card will be here in mid-April. Until then I have a local account for cash.

Just be aware, maybe yes, maybe no.

Yikes.
I’ve had them sent via FedEx by on offspring.
So the digital version didn’t work at the ATM.

A long, long time ago while visiting France, our US credit union was hacked, so they cancelled everyone’s ATM cards. Freaky feeling being stranded until we remembered we also had old, family savings accounts in France we could use. That’s when a son still living in the same town activated and FedEx over the new card.
